Syrian army backed by fighter aircraft and artillery fight rebels near military airport around Aleppo

Syrian troops backed by air force and artilleries have confronted fierce attacks by armed rebels against a military airport in the country's northern province of Aleppo, the pro-government al-Watan newspaper reported Thursday, April 25, 2013, claiming that Turkish officers and soldiers were fighting alongside the rebels.

U.S. - NATO countries work on plans for military action in Syria after the use of chemical weapons

After the use of Chemical weapons in Syria, there is some plans to send troops on the ground to secure Syria's chemical weapons facilities if they were in danger of being looted. An actual deployment would likely involve far fewer ground troops, and from various nations, but it underscores the scope of the challenge.
The opposition Free Syrian Army is creating a special unit of men trained to secure Syria’s chemical weapons sites, a former general in the country’s chemical and biological weapons administration has told the Daily Telegraph.

United Kingdom ready to bypass EU arms embargo to help Syrian rebels

Britain's Cameron has noted that if the EU refused to lift the arm embargo imposed against arming the Syrian rebels, his country would bypass the embargo and act solely. Politically, Britain and France seem to have become more eager to arm the rebels on ground in the hope of tipping the balance of fighting in favor of the rebels.
"Britain is to keep open its options on providing arms to Syrian rebels after David Cameron indicated that Britain would be prepared to bypass the EU arms embargo if other member states refuse to lift the measure in May,"

U.S. and Europe work for an option to provide non-lethal military equipment to Syrian rebels

The United States and Europe may begin equipping the rebel Free Syrian Army (FSA) with vehicles, body armor, night vision gear and binoculars, as well as military training. The decision is expected after a key conference on Syria in Rome. The Obama administration is working with European allies on possibly giving non-lethal equipment to Syrian rebel fighters, U.S. and European officials said.

Israeli Air Force targets a convoy of SA-17 anti-aircraft air defense missile system in Syria

Israel launched an airstrike inside Syria, U.S. officials said Wednesday, January 30, 2013, targeting a convoy believed to contain SA-17 anti-aircraft air defense missile systems bound for Hezbollah militants in Lebanon. No official comment was made by the Israeli Defense Forces or by any Israeli official on this attack.

Russian Navy amphibious ships, frigates, destroyer hold large drills in Mediterranean Sea

Russia has started the largest naval exercises in the past few decades in the Mediterranean and Black Seas as a civil war in Syria continues to gain momentum. The drills involve task forces from Russia’s Black Sea, Northern and Baltic fleets, strategic bombers, tactical aircraft, air defense units, paratroopers and naval infantry.
