Technical Datasheet: Type 056 Jiangdao Class Corvette - Chinese Navy

Designed and built by Chinese shipyard CSSC (China State Shipbuilding Corporation) the Type 056 Corvette (Jiangdao class) combines a stealth design with modern weapon systems and sensors. Designed to replace the older Jianghu class frigates and Type 037 patrol vessels, Type 056 Corvettes are set to become the backbone of the PLA Navy with more than 20 vessels reported to be currently on order.

First Type 056 Benbgu class Corvette commissioned in Chinese (PLA) Navy

The commissioning, naming and flag-presenting ceremony of the “Bengbu” warship, China’s first new-type corvette, was held on the morning of March 12, 2013 at a military port of a troop unit in Zhoushan City of east China’s Zhejiang province, marking that the “Bengbu” warship is officially commissioned to the Navy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

First Type 056 Corvette delivered to Chinese Navy (PLAN)

The handover ceremony for China’s first type-056 new-type corvette with hull number 582 was held on the afternoon of February 25, 2013 in Shanghai. Wu Shengli, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and commander of the Navy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), attended and addressed the ceremony.
