Iranian Army plans to test-fire new anti-chopper man-portable air defence missile system

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) of Iranian army plans to test-fire an indigenous shoulder-launched weapon which can shoot down choppers in the ongoing wargames in Southeastern Iran. The IRGC Ground Force started massive wargames, codenamed Payambar-e Azam 8 (The Great Prophet 8), which include exercising different defense tactics, in Southern Iran on Saturday, February 23, 2013.
Iran has already developed and manufactured several air defense missile systems based on Russian technology.
