A Norwegian missile developed by Kongsberg to be used on F-35 stealth figher aircraft

A missile specifically designed for use on F-35 fighters for Norway has for the first time been fitted onto an aircraft, Lockheed Martin said. The Joint Strike Missile, which is under development by Kongsberg, was attached last month to a fighter destined for Norway at Lockheed's facility in Fort Worth, Texas.

Norwegian army purchases 62 LMV Light Multirole armoured vehicles of IVECO Defence Vehicles

Iveco Defence Vehicles announces that the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (NDLO) has agreed to the procurement of a further tranche of 62 Light Armoured Vehicles (LAV). The LAV, internationally known as the Light Multirole Vehicle (LMV), is an adaptable, highly mobile vehicle featuring outstanding protection against mine, IED and ballistic attack, with a focus on delivering crew survivability.

Norwegian MoD submits RFI regarding submarine capability beyond 2020 to several shipyards

Norwegian Ministry of Defence has just made public the fact in submitted to many shipyards a Request for Information regarding the purchase of a new fleet of submarines. The Royal Norwegian Navy is looking to replace its fleet of 6 Ula class submarines (U-Boot-Klasse 210) around the year 2020. A decision should be made around 2014.

DCNS and its Norwegian partners deliver the fifth Skjold FPB to Norwegian Navy

DCNS delivered the fifth-of-class fast patrol boat (FPB) P965-Gnist to the Royal Norwegian Navy. The six-boat Skjold program is led by a consortium comprising DCNS and two Norwegian contractors with DCNS acting as the combat system design authority and co-supplier. The naming ceremony of Gnist took place at Umoe yard in Mandal last week.

Royal Norwegian Navy fires NSM missiles from Skjold class corvette and Nansen class Frigate

On Wednesday October 10th 2012, Royal Norwegian Navy marked history by firing an NSM (Kongsberg's Naval Strike Missile) anti-ship missile from a surface vessel for the first time. The vessel in question was HNoMS Glimt, Skjold class coastal corvette. Five days later, on October 15th 2012, another NSM missile was launched from HNoMS Roald Amundsen, Nansen class Frigate. Both firing tests were reported as successful.
