ThyssenKrupp strengthens presence in Asia/Pacific by acquiring Australian Marine Technology
With its technical expertise and numerous innovations, ThyssenKrupp is one of the leading global system suppliers for submarines and surface naval vessels, with a shipbuilding tradition that stretches back centuries. To strengthen the company’s presence in the Asia/Pacific region it is now acquiring the Melbourne-based Australian engineering firm Australian Marine Technologies.

Norwegian MoD submits RFI regarding submarine capability beyond 2020 to several shipyards
Norwegian Ministry of Defence has just made public the fact in submitted to many shipyards a Request for Information regarding the purchase of a new fleet of submarines. The Royal Norwegian Navy is looking to replace its fleet of 6 Ula class submarines (U-Boot-Klasse 210) around the year 2020. A decision should be made around 2014.

At IndoDefence 2012, German shipyard TKMS presented its latest range of Corvettes and OPV
TKMS presented its latest range of OPV and patrol Corvettes during IndoDefence, Indonesia's No.1 tri-service defence event, held in November 2012 in Jakarta. TKMS was showcasing its FLEXpatrol stealth patrol vessel, its MEKO 100 Patrol Corvette and its Guardian class OPV. These three classes of vessels are particularly matching the needs and requirement of South East Asia region navies.

Technical Datasheet: Type 216 AIP SSK Submarine
At Euronaval 2012, German Shipbuilder TKMS released information about a proposed conventional propulsion long-range submarine project, called Type-216. Based on the Type 214, the Type 216 is designed specifically to meet the "larger conventional submarine" needs of countries like Australia, India and Canada.
