The latest addition to the Brazilian Navy’s fleet departed the UK in the snow today for her new home in Rio de Janeiro where she will strengthen Brazil’s maritime security. APA is the second of three Amazonas Class Ocean Patrol Vessels being delivered to the Brazilian Navy by BAE Systems. Her sister ship, AMAZONAS, completed the crossing last year, while the final ship, ARAGUARI, will be handed over in June.

Indian Navy Commissions first of class Offshore Patrol Vessel INS “Saryu”
Indian Navy’s largest Offshore Patrol Vessel INS “Saryu” was formally commissioned into the Indian Navy by Air Marshal P K Roy, AVSM VM VSM Commander-in-Chief, Andaman & Nicobar Command on 21st January 2013. This is the first of the New 105 meter class of Naval Offshore Patrol Vessels indigenously designed in-house and built by Goa Shipyard Ltd for the Indian Navy. The commissioning ceremony was held at Goa Shipyard Ltd.

Fincantieri Launches "Luigi Dattilo" Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) for the Italian Coast Guards
The first of two multi-purpose vessels commissioned from Fincantieri by the General Command of the Port Authority Corp for the Italian Coast Guard was launched today at Castellammare di Stabia (Naples).

AMAZONAS, the first of three BAE Systems built Ocean Patrol Vessels being delivered to the Brazilian Navy, has arrived in her home port of Rio de Janeiro for the first time after eight weeks at sea.
