BAE Systems delivered new variant of CV90 Armadillo armoured personnel carrier to Danish Army

BAE Systems has delivered a new variant of the CV90 Armadillo, finished in traditional Danish Army camouflage, to the Danish Army Oksbol base for competitive evaluation to meet Denmark's armored personnel carrier requirement. Trials - involving five different vehicles - begin mid-April and will continue until September with contract scheduled for February next year. First deliveries will be in 2015.

Babcock fits forward island on HMS Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier

The island is a crucial component of the ship, containing the main bridge and around 100 vital mission systems compartments. The event was witnessed by the Secretary of State for Defence, Phillip Hammond, MP. The circa 600 tonne forward island – which arrived at Babcock’s Rosyth facility (where the carriers are being assembled) from BAE Systems in Portsmouth on 11 February – was lifted into position on HMS Queen Elizabeth’s flight deck by the massive Goliath crane, which had a special 78 tonne lifting frame attached for the purpose.

Tranche 1 of Typhoon fighter aircraft fleet is upgraded with a wide range of avionic system

The installation of the update to the whole Tranche 1 Typhoon fleet has been agreed following the successful delivery and assessment of Drop 2. The enhancement package, developed by our Capability Sustainment Team, provides capability upgrades to a wide range of Typhoon avionic systems covering the displays and controls, attack and identification, defensive aids and communication sub systems.

The Eurofighter Typhoon is a twin-engine multirole combat aircraft, designed and built by a consortium of three aviation companies: EADS, Alenia Aeronautica and BAE Systems; working through a holding company, Eurofighter GmbH.

Second Brazilian Navy Amazonas class OPV "APA" departs from BAE Systems Shipyard

The latest addition to the Brazilian Navy’s fleet departed the UK in the snow today for her new home in Rio de Janeiro where she will strengthen Brazil’s maritime security. APA is the second of three Amazonas Class Ocean Patrol Vessels being delivered to the Brazilian Navy by BAE Systems. Her sister ship, AMAZONAS, completed the crossing last year, while the final ship, ARAGUARI, will be handed over in June.

HMS Ambush attack submarine (SSN) officially welcomed into the Royal Navy

HMS Ambush, the Royal Navy’s most advanced attack submarine was commissioned into the Royal Navy to become “Her Majesty’s Ship” during a ceremony overseen by the submarine’s crew, Naval Base, workers and around 500 invited guests. MS Ambush has officially joined the Royal Navy fleet following a ceremony. The nuclear-powered submarine arrived at her home port of HM Naval Base Clyde in September last year where she has been undergoing sea trials before entering operational service later this year.
