Austal will be showcasing its ships, systems and support offerings on its stand at Euronaval, to be held in Paris from the 22 – 26 October 2012.
A model of the Cape Class Patrol Boat Austal currently under construction for the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service will be on display. Designed, built and supported by Austal, the eight Cape Class Patrol Boats will play a significant role in protecting Australia’s borders from multiple maritime threats and will provide enhanced capability to operate in more severe sea conditions than the current Customs and Border Protection fleet. The 58 metre aluminium monohulls can operate at 25 knots and have a range in excess of 4000 nautical miles. Each can undertake simultaneous operations with two embarked 7.3 metre rigid hulled response vessels.
