Seventeen NATO countries will be equipped in the future with the new Russian shotgun rifle Vepr-12, annonced the Russian State Corporation of Technologies Rostekhnologii, on Friday, October 12, 2012. Based on the Kalashnikov assault rifle, the Vepr 12 is designed by the Russsian factory Molot.

| The Vepr 12 shotgun is gas-operated, semi-automatic shotgun which uses long-stroke gas piston located above the barrel, and a rotary locking bolt. Gas system is self-regulating and does not need manual adjustments. |
