The new home-made assault rifle AK-12 will be tested by Russian army in June 2013

The fate of the new Kalashnikov AK-12 assault rifle developed for the Russian army will be decided during the state acceptance trials due to begin in June 2013, Russia's largest firearms manufacturer, Izhmash, said. “In the interests of the Defense Ministry, Izhmash is working on the modernization of the AK-74 and AK-100 assault rifles in service with the Russian army, as well as developing a [new] standard assault rifle on the AK-12 platform which will undergo state acceptance trials in June 2013,” Izhmash’s chief designer, Vladimir Zlobin said on Monday, April 29, 2013.

Russia launches construction of two new plants to build more S-400 air defence missile systems

The Russian-made S-400 surface-to-air defense missile systems are so requested on the world defense market that Russia has launched the construction of two additional plants, announced this week, the Russian President Vladimir Putin during his traditional session of questions and answers in live with the local people.
The Russian-made S-400 ground-to-air defence missile system is able to engage, ECM, radar-picket, director area, reconnaissance, strategic and tactical aircraft, tactical and theatre ballistic missiles, medium-range ballistic missiles at a maximum range of 400 km.

Ukrainian Company AutoKrAZ has shipped first batch of KrAZ H22.1 truck chassis to Russia

The Ukrainian Company “AutoKrAZ” has shipped a first batch of KrAZ H22.1 truck chassis to Russian machine works to mount oil well servicing and workover equipment. 
The KrAZ H22.1 chassis is designed to be fitted with various body equipment for use on hard-surface roads including cobblestone and macadam pavement, as well as earth roads.

Russia has started a new train ICBM Intercontinental ballistic missile which could be ready for 2020

Russia's Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology has started an R&D program to develop new rail-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems, said the Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov. The work is in the initial stages, he said, adding the cost of the program has yet to be determined. He provided no timeframe for the program.
In the past, Russia has developped an ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Misile) RT-23 (SS-24 Scalpe) mounted on a railcar.

Russian engineer troops interested by new Armata tank chassis to replace old engineer vehicles

The new tracked chassis Armata is not yet ready but engineer troops of Russian army are already interested. A source from the Ministry of Defence said that the command of the Russian engineer troops had already prepared a tactical mission for a universal engineering vehicle with this new chassis, according the newspaper Izvestia, on April 22, 2013.

The new BTR-82A enter in service with Russian army unit based in the Republic of Abkhazia

Around 40 new BTR-82A 8x8 armoured vehicle personnel carrier will enter in service at the beginning of this summer with the Russian army units based on the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia. The BTR-82A will take part for the first time at the military parade on the Red Square in Moscow.

The new RS-24M yars-M will enter in service with the Russian armed forces this year

The first modernized intercontinental ballistic missile, Yars-M, will enter service with Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) later this year, RVSN Commander Col. Gen. Russian defence industry exhibits more than 200 weapons and military equipment at LAAD 2013

Russian state arms export agency Rosoboronexport exhibits more than 200 items of Russian weapons and military equipment at the LAAD 2013 Defence and Security exhibition. The company is a traditional participant in the event since 1995, but this year the exposition is increased. The total area of Russia's exposition managed by the Rostec Corporation will be three times larger than that at LAAD 2011.

Russia and Brazil to discuss for a joint development of advanced air defence missile system Parana

Russia and Brazil will discuss the possibility of the joint development of an advanced surface-to-air missile system, Parana, at the LAAD 2013 defense exhibition in Rio de Janeiro, Russian state-owned defense firm Rosoboronexport said on Monday, April 8, 2013.
Brazil has started negotiations with Russia on acquisition of Pantsir-S1 air defense systems.

Venezuela has received a second batch of 13 Russian-made BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles

Armed forces in Venezuela have received a new batch of Russian amphibious combat vehicles, the Moscow-based Center for Analysis of Global Arms Trade said on Thursday, March 28, 2013. Thirteen BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles were delivered by sea to the port of Puerto Cabello, the center said. This marks the first report of an arms delivery by sea to Venezuela since the death of President Hugo Chavez in March.

Iraq confirms the purchase of Russian-made helicopters and air defence systems for next summer

By next summer, Russia will supply Iraq with helicopters and anti-aircraft batteries, has indicated, the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari. "I think the first deliveries of Russian weapons in Iraq will take place no later than the summer. The main equipment are helicopters and air defense batteries," said the diplomat in Iraq during an interview with the Voice of Russia.
Iraq could buy 30 Russian-made Mi-28 attack helicopters.
